NEW - WINNERS ANNOUNCEMENT (PRIZES AND FEATURES WILL FOLLOW - NEW NEW - JUDGING IS IN PROGRESS - NEW NEW - DEADLINE EXTENSION II TO 31st MAY 2022 - NEW NEW - DEADLINE EXTENSION TO 30th APRIL 2022 - NEW This time I have no new milestones to offer for celebrating in a contest, but nevertheless there is another incident for having a celebration competition: a repetition number - in this case the mirror of 5 means the doubling of it. Because of that interesting number that it is, I have decided to host a birthday contest. :) What comes into my mind when thinking of number 5(5) which still intensify the meaning? Freedom, open-mindedness, loyalty, stability, love, devotion, craving for change, independence, adventure, curiosity. Formerly, 5 was believed to be the number resembling a marriage between the Earth and the Heavens. The pentagram is a significant symbol in many religions. In astrology, 5 is associated with Mercury, the planet of intelligence, logic, awareness, communication

NaPoWriMo 2022: A Mini Contest
If you're reading this, my fellow writers must be taking a well-deserved break from writing amazing poetry for NaPoWriMo. If you are not familiar with National Poetry Writing Month, you might want to stop by @Medoriko's group @NaPoWriMo— and check it out. This year is a first for me— challenging myself to write 30 poems in 30 days, which is no easy task! For many, this is an annual event, and cause for celebration. Mini Contest Details Have a NaPoWriMo poem you think is worthy of note? Read below to learn more! :star: Share one of your poems below in the comments. I, along with anyone who wants to help out as a judge, will pick a favorite — and this will be based on three important things: the creativity of your poem, how well it tackles its general theme, and its overall mechanics. :star: After you post your favorite poem in the comments, tell me why it is your favorite — not just "I like this one the best." Give a thoughtful reason in a single sentence

Flash Fiction Month 2021: Golden Mug Awards!
You'd almost given up hope, but here it is at last... These last couple of months have broken our hearts and maimed our limbs, but at last the (slightly worse for wear) Hydra have crawled back from the brink to deliver unto you the final FFM 2021 announcements. After great delay, and many hours of toil and judgement, we are delighted to bring you winners of the SECOND annual Golden Mug Awards!! (On account of Eclipse, this is best viewed on a computer; we can't guarantee the behavior of formatting gremlins in any other format. ) After last year's success with the inaugural Golden Mug Awards (or GMA's for the cool kids) we wanted to go big, and go bold! We asked the community for suggestions, and stocked the category shelves to the brim, and well... honestly we all probably got a little carried away. :giggle: But we have no regrets! We're going to start things off with the returning categories from last year, and then we'll dive into the new story/genre specific categories.

Flash Fiction Month 2020: Golden Mug Awards!
And now, the moment you have all been waiting for... The community has SPOKEN, and we, your humble semi-serpentine headed servants, are excited to announce the winners of the first ever Golden Mug Awards!! :winner: (On account of all the changes from Eclipse, this is best viewed on a computer; we can't guarantee the behavior of formatting gremlins in any other format.) We asked you, the FFM community, to submit your nominations for several categories, and you answered in force! The numbers were tallied, the votes were counted, and now the winners shall emerge blinking into the light. And so, without further ado... :spotlight-left: The Golden Yarn :spotlight-right: "The Heirophant" @distortified @distortified's 'The Heirophant' impressed all of us with its wonderful characterisation and effortless world-building in a poignant tale of tradition, legacy, and ritual. :spotlight-left: Literati :spotlight-right: Their writing over the course of the month

Eclipse Experience: Wishlist
Below, please find a quick reference of points I have highlighted that I "wish" for, to make my overall Eclipse experience improved. Basically, this is a simplified version of my Eclipse Experience journal guide. This also serves as yet another reminder of things I feel are more necessary to the overall "devious" experience for myself and others here on DeviantART verses unneeded minor cosmetic changes. :star: Disclaimer: All of these are equally important to me, and I wish to have a relevant listing all in one place so that folks can have it at their fingertips without having to search for: 1) several (unnecessary) journals with the same content and: 2) try and figure out which journal had which listings. All of these suggestions are in no particular order; so without further adieu: :pointr: Pagination added for browsing in galleries and endless scrolling eliminated. :pointr: Less harshness with the extreme contrast with the "black" and "white" modes. :pointr: A way to

It's nearly summertime and you know what that means: almost time for FFM shenanigans! But before we get to that, Hydra needs its annual sacrifice of prompts to flourish. Please submit any writing prompts, image prompts (deviations only), music prompts, and anything else that might catch your fancy below. After all, inspiration is one of the things that keeps Flash Fiction Month an exciting experience year after year. Thanks in advance for your nuggets of inspiration, and we look forward to seeing all your bright and shining faces come July!
